Linking physical media to digital music
CD sales are at their lowest volume in over 30 years. Consumers want music in a format compatible with their smartphones and other devices. Streaming music online has cut out sales for brick & mortar retailers, as well as artists on-tour.
beat.link solves this problem with a new hybrid physical/digital album format designed to work with smartphones, tablets, PCs, and more.
How does it work?
Listeners purchase a card for a particular album. The card contains an NFC chip, which when tapped to a compatible device will open the digital album on that device. No app installation is required.
For devices without NFC capability, the card contains a printed QR code for scanning, as well as a standard alpha-numeric code that can be manually typed in.
Listeners may play the music directly in the beat.link interface, or they may download the music to play in whatever app they choose.
Photos, liner notes, and more
Go beyond the music and include other digital content with your album, such as a photo album or a video. Listeners can experience it all within the beat.link interface.
Add rich metadata to your tracks such as composer, performer, copyright, and recording information. All text content is UTF-8 encoded so you can use characters from most any language on Earth. Even emoji!
Audio Quality
The best fans appreciate high quality music. That's why we use two of the best codecs:
- FLAC: A "lossless" codec which faithfully reproduces every bit of encoded audio exactly as it was in its original recording.
- Opus: For listeners with limited bandwidth, such as with a low mobile signal, Opus compresses the audio to use 1/8th the bandwidth while retaining excellent quality.
Pricing
$3 per-card, with a minimum order of 10 cards. Full-color printing is included on both sides of the card.
